Max Verstappen’s contract with Red Bull Racing expires at the end of 2028. The reigning world champion has already hinted that he may end his career after this period, and Christian Horner made it clear on Sky Sports News that he does not rule out such a development.
Christian Horner: “Max makes his own decisions, and he has his own opinion and outlook on what he wants to do in life. I don’t think Max will race like Fernando Alonso at 41 or 42, and if he does it won’t be in Formula 1. But still, racing is his love and passion.
When he’s not racing on the track, he’s competing in virtual competitions. He enjoys driving GT cars for his own pleasure. His passion is driving and racing, and as long as that passion burns within him, he will continue. But how long this passion will last, each person will learn from his own experience.
Max Verstappen has said he doesn’t like the current 23-race calendar. Christian Horner agrees that the load on the teams is already too great: “We have a tough and tough calendar of 23 stages. It is not only tough for the drivers, but also for the mechanics who go out on track at the beginning of the week and come home on Monday after the Grand Prix. At some point, such loads will make themselves felt.
