McLaren got off to a weak start to the 2023 season and it wasn’t until the third race, largely thanks to the confluence of rivals, that they took their first points. Team rider Lando Norris said self-criticism helps him stay motivated in the absence of good results on the track.
Lando Norris: “Every driver wants to have confidence in his team. I don’t think there are any factors that can change my motivation, because every weekend I am motivated to give my best.
I’m very critical of my performance every weekend and that’s a big motivator. If I know I did a bad job, I say so. And even if I finish first or second at the same time, I won’t be satisfied because I know I can do better.
It is very easy for me to motivate myself every weekend. I don’t need a team or a vision for the future for this. However, knowing what to expect and having the right people on the team gives a huge confidence boost.”
