We wrote about Hong Kong billionaire Calvin Lo’s interest in investing in Formula 1 by establishing his own team or investing in an existing one.
Calvin’s fortune is estimated at $1.7 billion and he argues that money is not the most important thing in this situation. He is ready to support the application of one of the new teams, ready to debut in Formula 1 in 2026, but has ruled out participation in the American project Andretti Cadillac and the British project Hitech.
Calvin Lo: “Believe it or not, the amount of the investment is not the key. We want to bring all the best – engineers and mechanics – together in one common team. There are several interesting options, we are seriously negotiating with several teams. One of them has already signed up, the other is still behind the scenes.
There are more Asian investors willing to get into this sport than we can imagine. I was lucky enough to know many of them and they showed interest. Now we have to join forces.”
