Horner responds to Vasseur’s words about Red Bull’s soft penalty

Ferrari head Frederic Vasseur believes the FIA lightly penalized Red Bull Racing for breaching financial regulations last year. The head of the championship team, Christian Horner, was asked to comment on Vasser’s words.

“Everyone is entitled to their opinion and everyone is free to express it,” Horner told Sky Sports News. – The team has done a great job over the winter, although we have little time in the wind tunnel to finalize the car. This will have consequences later this year and next year. I think after three stages it’s too early to draw any conclusions about the whole season because there are still a lot of races ahead.

Much more can change. We have been informed that Ferrari and Mercedes will introduce major updates when Formula 1 returns to Europe. Therefore, we do not take anything for granted and concentrate on our own tasks, doing our best within the limits imposed on us. We know that we have received a heavy penalty and are doing our best under the circumstances.”

Last year, former Red Bull Racing head of aerodynamics, Dan Fallows, joined Aston Martin as technical director. Christian Horner is happy with the current success of his former employee, but assures that Red Bull Racing’s technical department has become stronger since Fallows’ departure.

“In the UK, seven teams have bases within a 50-mile radius, so competition for staff is inevitable,” says Horner. “Red Bull traditionally has a low staff turnover and it is great that we give talent the opportunity to develop.

I’m happy for Dan, he’s doing a great job, but his departure has created opportunities for other engineers to develop. Now the team is even stronger than two years ago.”
