A book of memoirs by Haas F1 boss Günther Steiner will be published on April 20, detailing the events of the previous season. But some quotes from it have already reached the press, including the loss of the team due to Mick Schumacher’s numerous accidents.
In particular, Schumacher’s accident during the first practice session at the Japanese Grand Prix cost Haas F1 $700,000.
Gunther Steiner: “The accident happened on the return to the pit lap. On a slow circle! Yes, it was very wet on the track, but apart from him nobody took off on this lap.
Five minutes into the session, we lost the car and had to build another one for him.
How could I trust a rider who I wasn’t sure would be able to return to the pits safely. This is ridiculous. How many people can we hire for $700,000? And now I had to find that money.”
The total cost of Meek’s accidents is estimated at $2,130 million.
