Hill advises Lance Stroll to switch teams

Lance Stroll’s place in his father Lawrence’s Aston Martin team is guaranteed for years to come. However, 1996 World Champion Damon Hill believes that if the Canadian rider is to appreciate and unleash his full potential, he should move to another team.

Damon Hill: “Lance needs to keep showing high results – there is nothing good about one brilliant performance. He must have high ambitions for this season, he must strive to end Fernando Alonso’s career.

It sounds harsh, but that is exactly the goal George Russell set in relation to Lewis Hamilton. Here’s what Nico Hulkenberg is trying to do in regards to Kevin Magnussen – put himself above the team’s clear number one.

I wonder what Lance Stroll’s true potential is. I believe he has high natural abilities, but today I don’t see him as a future world champion, as we once saw the potential of Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton.

If he wants to go to the next level, he has to beat Fernando Alonso. I speak from my own experience – when a rider is in a situation where he needs to show results, he opens up skills he didn’t even suspect. The question is how to unleash this potential? It requires a lot of dedication and a lot of sacrifice.

If Lance wants to know the answer to the question, he has to move to another team. Then he gets into a situation where he will either swim or drown.
