Robert Doornbos, former Formula 1 driver, 2005-2006 who played for teams like Minardi and Red Bull Racing, fell victim to robbers. The incident already took place in March, but only now has the Amsterdam police released information related to it, although they previously preferred not to do so in order not to harm the investigation.
Robert, who now works as an expert at Ziggo Sport, was attacked by two attackers when he got out of his car in front of his house. He received a hard blow to the head with a baton, after which his Rolex watch and mobile phone were taken away.
“The attack was brutal, but now I no longer wear an expensive watch, but just an Apple Watch, at least now I know how many steps I take,” De Telegraaf quotes Doornbos.
He is not the first Formula 1 driver whose chronograph is coveted by lovers of other people’s properties. In April 2022, Charles Leclerc lost a Richard Mille watch and an exclusive model, and we recently reported that Italian police arrested four people suspected of involvement in this crime.
And in London, the court hearings continue on the case of the robbery of Lando Norris, which took place after the final of the European Football Championship, and we also wrote about it.
In the case of Doornbos, the investigation is still in its early stages, the Dutch police only assume that the perpetrators were between 25 and 30 years old, and are asking possible witnesses to come forward.
