Talked about Formula 1 again in Hockenheim

The last time Germany hosted a Formula 1 round was in 2020, after which the Grand Prix was canceled for financial reasons. In 2026, the major German car manufacturer Audi will make its Formula 1 debut and Jorn Teske, CEO of the Hockenheim circuit, is ready to discuss the possibility of hosting a German Grand Prix.

“We are ready to negotiate the return of Formula 1 to Germany,” Teske told Sport1. “We are pleased that Audi’s forthcoming entry into Formula 1 has given new impetus to our discussion. We are in constant contact with the championship management – communication has never been interrupted.

However, this does not mean that we have news. We know very well that returning to Formula 1 is still not easy. However, when a global player like Audi enters the scene, which we welcome, an exchange of ideas with all stakeholders begins.

However, we remain of the opinion that holding the Formula 1 race should not ruin us. We have to look for options that suit all parties.”

Jörn Teske added that he was happy with the option of Hockenheim in turn hosting the German Grand Prix with the Nürburgring circuit: “We don’t see any problems with this. This is a very good alternative solution.

I understand that they want to see different circuits in Formula 1. In turn, we will only have to commit huge resources once every two years, but at the same time we will maintain the image and status of the Formula 1 circuit. In that sense, this is an ideal solution if two German circuits alternate on the podium enter. I am talking about colleagues from the Nürburgring. This would of course suit both the German fans and me.”
