Domenicali: We are ready to discuss the London Grand Prix

In March, the British press reported on plans to build a new circuit in the London Docklands area to host a Formula 1 round. According to the project authors’ optimistic plans, the first race could be held in August 2026 held, but Formula 1 promptly rejected the possibility of hosting a podium at Docklands.

In a recent meeting with investors, the head of Formula 1, Stefano Domenicali, was no longer so categorical and expressed interest in discussing the project.

“Why not? – Domenicali answered the question about the possibility of holding the London Grand Prix. – It would be great. Maybe the city has other priorities but it would be a great project. We are open to discussing of the idea as we have offices in London so it won’t be a long journey to the race.”

Stefano Domenicali added that in Formula 1 they did not refuse to keep the championship in Africa: “We are working hard on this project, but I have always said that for the implementation we need the right partners with a medium-term planning perspective . I want to avoid situations where we get to one race and forget everything in a year. We are looking for a solution that benefits the sport and the country.”
