The first race at Imola was held on April 25, 1953, and it was a motorsport competition, and then the circuit was called Autodromo di Castellaccis and had a different configuration, which was maintained for the next twenty years.
Therefore, in the spring of 2023 at the track, which now bears the names of Enzo and Dino Ferrari, they are preparing not only to host the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, but also to celebrate its 70th anniversary.
The holiday program will begin at 10:00 am on April 25 with a parade of cars and motorcycles on the track, which will pass behind the safety car for a few laps, and anyone can participate in the parade with their own vehicles, simply fill in a special form enter the autodrome website.
An agreement is then signed in the circuit’s press center that a local BMW dealer will donate three electric cars to the autodrome, which will be used as safety cars during various promotions, as well as the accident-free driving school.
A solemn section will take place in the afternoon, during which representatives of the Imola city council and other officials will give congratulations, after which a new film dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the autodrome will be shown.
Also during the day everyone will be able to walk along the track – for this it is open from 14:00 to 18:00. And then the presentation of the book by the famous Italian journalist Pino Alevi, dedicated to the anniversary of the circuit in Imola, is planned.
The 303 pages of the book, titled “Imola – 70. A novel about the autodrome”, tell about the history of the circuit, and although the main focus is on Formula 1, the author did not ignore other car and motorsport competitions, such as as well as several bright cultural events that took place at the Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari.
