Nikita Bedrin set the fastest time on the first day of Formula 3 testing at Imola. The Jenzer Motorsport driver expects to repeat the high pace during the race weekend at Imola, scheduled for May 19-21.
Nikita Bedrin: “The first day of testing went well. From the very first ride to the circuit in the morning we were in top form and at the end of the day I was doing a very good lap on a new set of tyres. Plus, I looked good on the race distance, so I’m confident, especially on Medium tyres.
Imola is my favorite song, which I have enjoyed for years. We look competitive and hopefully we can keep the momentum going through the race weekend.”
In the first two rounds of the Formula 3 season, Bedrin’s best result was 15th in Saturday’s race in Melbourne. Nikita does not deny that the first races were difficult, but he is determined to get his first points.
“The stages were very difficult, especially in Australia, where the circuit is completely new to me,” continues the 17-year-old rider. – It’s hard for debutants on this track, but I learned quite well in 45 minutes and put in a good lap. It was hard, but hard work pays off.
I adapt quite well to a Formula 3 car. Every time I got behind the wheel in Imola it didn’t go well, but at this track I have enough confidence in the car. I trust her and I can drive corners the way I want. Now I am much more comfortable behind the wheel.
My main task is to keep working. The speed already looks good, so in this aspect it remains only to add a little. In addition, you should continue to learn as much as possible about the car, because the steering is not yet perfect – it can be better.
