Former Ferrari test driver Pedro de la Rosa spoke on the F1 Nation podcast about how difficult it is to work at the Scuderia under pressure from the Italian media…
Pedro de la Rosa: “When I was at Ferrari, I remember how Monday morning went after a bad result. I came to the base, to Stefano Domenicali’s office, where there was an unfolded Gazzetta dello Sport and his mail. We all knew we had problems. And so it has always been at Ferrari.
Working at Ferrari is very difficult. The press puts a lot of pressure, and if you did not get a good result on Sunday, then you understood what Monday and what week awaits you.
I think one of the reasons why foreigners work so well at Ferrari is that they don’t feel this pressure from the press. Simply because they don’t read or understand it. That is good for foreigners, but the Italian engineers and mechanics who work there day in and day out feel that pressure.”
