Steiner: Riccardo and I flew to Australia together

Haas boss Gunther Steiner has praised the performances of Nico Hulkenberg and Kevin Magnussen in the opening races of the season, but that hasn’t stopped the press from speculating about Daniel Ricciardo’s possible move to Haas in 2024. On Sky Sports, Gunther was asked to comment on the possibility of signing a contract with the Australian racer.

“At the moment we are not considering the option of inviting Daniel,” Steiner replied. – He has a contract with Red Bull and I don’t know how long that has been calculated.

Daniel and I flew to Australia on the same plane and were able to talk, but not about the contract. We talked about life and everything that happens. But there wasn’t even a hint of discussing the contract, honestly!

Daniel wanted to take a year off, so let’s see what he wants next. When he’s ready to race again, he starts calling the teams and saying, “I’m ready.”

Daniel Ricciardo himself spoke of a possible return in 2024: “I don’t want to start from scratch and go to the start to fight for 18th place. I don’t want to compete in Formula 1 at all costs.”
