Alex Albon: 10 races ahead in 14 weeks

In an interview with the Williams press office, Alex Albon spoke about preparing for an exciting series of races before the summer break…

Alex Albon: “I’m not against this unforeseen split between Australia and Baku, but it would be better if one of these weeks split the series of two and three races in a row ahead of us. After three races we are still not tired, I would rather have a week off a bit later.

From the point of view of maintaining concentration, this pause did not change anything. I had some rest, participated in our partners’ promotions and now I’m working on the simulator to prepare for the upcoming races. On the simulator we are working out ideas and plans for the development of the car, and as the season has just started there is a lot of work.

You have to be ready for a series of 10 races in 14 weeks. We plan a schedule for changing time zones, food, energy use and just the opportunity to relax and take care of ourselves.

The most important thing I achieved after the first season in Formula 1 was that I was able to gather a team around me, get rid of unnecessary noise and concentrate on racing. This is the most important.

The next big breakthrough is coming in August, and a lot can change before that. I would like us to fight in the middle, earn a few more points. We are all very keen to finish the season above last place in the Constructors’ Championship. Now there is an exciting battle for eighth place – this is our goal. It is important to earn points now, in the first part of the season, in the autumn that will help a lot.”
