Mick Schumacher was present at the first races of the season as a reserve driver for Mercedes and, if necessary, was ready to replace one of the team’s main drivers: Lewis Hamilton or George Russell.
Mercedes plans Mick to be present at all grands prix this season, but Imola Schumacher’s work schedule will be adjusted from the podium. At the European races, Mick will not only be on track, but will also help the team by working on the simulator.
Mercedes plans to do that on Friday at base in Brackley Meek on the simulator that will test settings that the team’s main drivers were unable to test on the real track during practice. After completion of the work, Mick will leave directly for the airport to be present at the circuit with the team on Saturday morning.
As for Schumacher’s participation in the tests of a real car, Mercedes has no specific plans yet. After the Spanish Grand Prix, the team is scheduled to take part in Pirelli tests, and there is a possibility that Mick will get behind the wheel of the W14, but as a rule Mercedes prefers to carry out tire tests to the main racers.
