In Max Verstappen’s car, strong vibrations from the moving element of the rear wing were observed during the first practice in Baku, which was not the case on Sergio Perez’s RB18.
After the session, Red Bull Racing head Christian Horner admitted that the team will have to deal with this.
“Of course we’ve seen it, it’s also seen in the telemetry data, and we have to compare this picture with how the wing worked on Sergio’s car,” said Horner. – We will probably either have to redo something or apply different settings to eliminate this phenomenon in the second session.
We need to check all the settings, check the strength of the wing and I hope we can fix it all. I think other teams also encountered issues related to machine destabilization. That comes at the expense of speed, so engineers are now busy looking for solutions to such problems.”
