Charles Leclerc led the minutes of the second session of the free races of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. Carlos Sainz lost more than a second to his partner to set the fifth fastest time. Ferrari is happy with the car and expects to add more on Saturday.
Charles Leclerc (1st): “We had a strong first day and made progress in the second session – great teamwork.
The lap times are not representative as nobody managed to get a fast lap in the second session. We have one more backlog to add. Our pace looks strong and I’m comfortable in the car. Speaking of tires, there were no issues with granulation over a long set of laps, which is also a good sign. †
Carlos Sainz (5th): “An interesting Friday, as usual in Baku. In the first practice I had problems building up the car on the straights, which made it quite uncomfortable to work during the session.
In the second training session, we chose the right direction of work, which allowed us to increase competitiveness and improve the feel of the car. All in all, a good second practice, although I couldn’t get a quick lap on the Soft because of the yellow flags.
The team expects to take another step forward tomorrow and have a clean qualifying.”
