The owners of Liberty Media’s Formula 1 are thinking about buying the American racing series IndyCar.
Commentator and journalist Peter Windsor revealed on his YouTube channel that Liberty Media is exploring the possibility of buying IndyCar from current owner Roger Penske to transform the championship into an American Formula 1 support series.
“One of the things Liberty Media is thinking about right now, and it’s a good idea, is buying IndyCar to make it a US F1 support series,” says Windsor. – I don’t know how they are going to do it – maybe they will sail some stages on the ovals and add more road tracks.
Maybe the cars are being made to be more like Formula 1, with carbon brakes or something like that. This is probably why Zach Brown is in IndyCar, but I’m not sure.
In fact, buying an IndyCar is not the dumbest idea. This is actually a cool decision because then IndyCar becomes a place for a lot of talented racers who didn’t make it to Formula 1. They are allowed to drive in the American series. I think it makes sense.”
