Reserve driver Robert Schwartzman will combine this track with AF Corse in the GT World Challenge this year, but would like to drive in Formula 1 in the future.
Robert Schwartzman: “My main priority is to get a place in Formula 1, so right now I’m focused on reserve driver work, while I study and prepare for endurance racing, because my other dream is a hypercar.
I’m looking forward to it and I think GT is the best way to learn how endurance racing works, to prepare myself in case I get the chance.
Last year it was not easy to work alone on the simulator. It was a rewarding experience, but it was hard to motivate myself. I’m very happy to be behind the wheel again this year – and looking forward to the battle. I’m open to any suggestions and want to be ready if anyone calls.
I’m not thinking about the length of GT appearances yet. My goal is to be fully prepared for any occasion. Maybe someone from Formula 1 will let me say they have a place – and I’ll be ready. When they call me and say they’re putting me in a hypercar, I also want to be 100% ready not to let the team down. I want to push my boundaries as much as possible in terms of knowledge of machines of different series. And as soon as there’s a good chance, I’m ready. It’s all I’m looking for.”
