Following today’s Formula 1 committee meeting, several important changes to the sporting regulations have been adopted.
In particular, this year each driver will be able to use not three, but four power plants without additional fines. It is allowed to use four internal combustion engines, turbines, MGU-H and MGU-K, but still only two energy storage units and two control electronics units.
The departure time to the starting field has been extended from 40 to 50 minutes, allowing more time to be spent on various actions. Revised the rule for touching cars with a jack when serving a fine, which led first to the punishment of Fernando Alonso and then to the cancellation of the fine. From now on, touching the jacks against the car is considered the beginning of the work.
The FIA has agreed to consider excluding the costs associated with updating Formula 1 team base infrastructure from the budget constraints, but only in the context of making them more environmentally friendly.
