Lando Norris’ contract with McLaren runs until the end of 2025 and despite the lack of good results in 2023, the British racer does not regret the decision to sign a multi-year deal. Lando said he was only willing to change teams if he could fight for the title in the new team.
Lando Norris: “Everyone wants to have a choice, so riders communicate with as many people as possible to be visible and aware of all the options available. This allows you to clearly answer the question of which option is the best.
I see McLaren as the best option for me in the long run, so I signed a four-year contract with the team once. All my communication with other teams got no further than the usual conversations that didn’t get very far. Nothing enticed me more than the prospect of continuing my career at McLaren.
I believe if I had to move to another team I would agree provided I could fight for wins and titles. I would clearly condition that I don’t agree to be number two or be in a situation where I can’t act maximally in my best interest. In other words, win races and titles.”
