In the April break between races, Charles Leclerc released his first single. In Baku, the Ferrari driver said he had not expected such a strong reaction to his work.
Charles Leclerc: “I was surprised by the reaction. I knew people would notice because it’s not every day that a Formula 1 driver releases a piece of music. I didn’t want to run a big marketing campaign – my goal was to get people to listen to my story, which I played on the piano.
I liked the process itself. It was cool, but honestly it didn’t take me long to get to work. It took the longest time to get the paperwork done to release the single on a streaming service, but I had a great group of people to help me with it. I was doing my usual thing between races – playing the piano, but it’s nice that people liked it.
This is not a professional job, I made the recording for fun. For me, music is a way to take my mind off racing and think about something else.”
Speaking of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, the Ferrari driver noted that the team is preparing for a difficult weekend: “If we evaluate the form realistically, our car does not have the speed that Red Bull has. However, I know the team’s plans to upgrade the car and they give me confidence.
I know what Frederic Vasseur will do and I am 100% sure that he has chosen the right path, which will allow us to fight with Red Bull in the future.
As for Baku, we should try to avoid problems this weekend. Most likely, one of the most difficult stages of the season awaits us, as we will only have one training session on the city circuit before qualifying after a three-week break. It’s going to be tough, but I’m ready.”
