The day before, AlphaTauri announced the departure of Franz Toast as team leader at the end of the season. At a press conference in Baku, Yuki Tsunoda said news of Tost’s resignation came as a surprise to him.
Yuki Tsunoda: “For me, the news of Franz’s departure came as a surprise, because we spoke with him only five days before, and nothing foreshadowed such a development of events. So I was surprised, but at the same time there were rumors since the beginning of the season that he would leave.
Franz still has 19 races to work on and we will try to satisfy him. The team has a lot to do to improve the car, but we have some pretty aggressive modernization plans and I’m looking forward to seeing what we can do.
I am grateful to Franz and appreciate that he believed in me. He has always supported me, so I will try to please him in the next races.
