Gunther Steiner: Not the best day

The Haas F1 racers had a failed qualifying session in Baku and fell out of contention in the first session…

Gunter Steiner, team leader: “Not the best day. Kevin had problems with the fuel pump and electronics during practice and qualifying, it’s hard to say what the result could be.

Niko did not drive well enough on his second attempt, he himself admitted that he had not succeeded in driving even one lap properly.

We have a long weekend in Baku, tomorrow morning there is another qualifying, for the sprint, and then two races. We must gather strength to achieve more tomorrow.”

Nico Hulkenberg (17th): “The first part of qualifying was interrupted twice by red flags, it was difficult to get into the rhythm, especially given the limited time in practice.

As a result, I failed to pass my attempts cleanly, losing time, although I thought reaching the second part of qualifying was quite possible.

Tomorrow is another day, another qualifying format. I hope we do better.”

Kevin Magnussen (18th): “It’s a pity to retire early due to problems with the car, but there’s nothing you can do about it. We don’t know what caused it – an error during assembly or reasons beyond our control. The engine stalled, it had no power on the straights. It’s a shame because we had a good pace in the first lap.”
