Despite ongoing problems with DRS, both Aston Martin drivers managed to score points in Saturday’s sprint…
Fernando Alonso (6th): “I’m glad I was able to score points. I’m not sure if the DRS issue we’ve been dealing with all weekend has been resolved, but we’ll analyze the telemetry, hopefully tomorrow everything will be fine. But even with DRS activated it was difficult to overtake – the cars are very close in speed.
The sprint was very helpful – for the first time during the weekend we did a long series of circles. I believe we have a chance to achieve more tomorrow, besides, red flags or a safety car can always appear here.”
Lance walk (8th): “Today I barely got a point, but I liked the new sprint format. Every time we go out on the track there is something to fight for. As a result, we maintain a constant concentration and the fans are certainly interested.
We had some problems with DRS, luckily the system worked in the sprint, it’s very difficult to overtake on this track without it. I enjoyed the battle with Alex Albon, put pressure on him for a few laps – and was happy to take the lead into the first corner.
