Before the start of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, Christian Horner stressed that the Red Bull Racing drivers will be given complete freedom of action and that they can compete on the track, but that they should not forget the interests of the team.
Christian Horner: “Max Verstappen’s dissatisfaction after yesterday’s sprint was quite understandable as his car was damaged, which affected his race, but after an hour he calmed down and today he has a completely normal fighting spirit. He is fully focused on the upcoming Grand Prix.
When we talk about the instructions I gave to Max and Sergio this morning, we all remember what happened in Baku in 2018. Both understood me perfectly, but they can compete on the track, but at the same time they have to show mutual respect, take care of the cars and, of course, remember what tasks the team faces this weekend.
At this stage of the championship, we need to earn as many points as possible and that should be taken into account, despite the fact that the Baku track is quite difficult and the risks here are high.
Sergio is absolutely confident in his abilities, he has performed well on this circuit in the past and today he will try to capitalize on his previous successful experience.”
