Over the weekend Fernando Alonso was plagued by problems with the DRS, but he hopes all goes well in the race…
Fernando Alonso: “Our car looks good on this track, but the DRS system didn’t work in qualifying, so I’m starting sixth, but our pace is probably higher. Let’s see what will happen during the race – there are usually a lot of events in Baku, so you need to stay focused.
DRS worked in the sprint and we are confident that DRS will work in the race too. However, on this track it’s much more important to just get to the finish – then we have a chance to earn a lot of points, and that’s the team’s goal.
We are fighting strong rivals – Ferrari, Red Bull and Mercedes. In addition, McLaren added seriously, so we must correctly assess our capabilities. The team is confident in the speed and if we score points with two cars, Sunday can be considered a success.
