Azerbaijan Grand Prix stewards have issued a verdict following an investigation into a dangerous incident in the pit lane on the final lap of the race.
Just as the race leaders began the final lap, Esteban Ocon turned into the pit lane to make a mandatory pit stop. At that point, some photographers and track personnel went to the part of the pit lane where the cars were driving. Windows almost collided with people, but the tragedy was avoided.
The stewards’ published decision states that “FIA staff must take immediate steps to review procedures and protocols, together with all parties involved, including the FOM, the teams and the FIA, to ensure that a similar situation does not arise. no longer occur in the future.
FIA representatives expressed their regret for what happened and assured that necessary measures will be taken for the next stage.
