Both Aston Martin drivers suffered incidents during qualifying in Baku, with Lance Stroll having two accidents…
Sebastian Vettel (9th): “I’m happy with ninth place. After playing another half of the tenth, I was able to get ahead of Yuki Tsunoda, but overall everything went well.
In the second session I locked the tires in Turn 15 and wasn’t sure if I could get through so I decided to go straight, albeit at the risk of breaking the front wing. It worked, I managed to minimize the losses.
In the race, a lot depends on the ability to control the condition of the tires, and tomorrow it will not be easy to deal with. The forecast promises warmer weather than in qualifying, but I’m looking forward to it. I have been racing for a long time and I am sure that my experience will help me tomorrow.”
Lance Walk (19th): “I’m disappointed with the end of qualifying. After my tires got stuck in Turn 7, the car behaved normally, there was not much time left in the session – and I decided to do another fast lap. I think I braked too late in the second corner – that’s it.
It is a pity that we have not been able to achieve more, but you can overtake in Baku, we have seen more than once that something can happen on this track, so tomorrow I will fight.”
