Before the Miami Grand Prix, Formula 1 teams find a variety of activities for their racers, but they have in common that they are related to America, to its culture and traditions, including motorsport. For example, Charles Leclerc entered the baseball field for the first time in Florida a year ago and this time Esteban Ocon and Charles Leclerc gained their first experience in the most popular racing series in the United States.
Their guide to the world of NASCAR was Brad Keselowski, a 2012 champion with the RFK Racing team that he co-owns.
At the Charlotte Oval Circuit, Alpine F1 drivers spoke to him, as well as Chris Buscher, another RFK Racing driver, and practiced changing wheels on Brad Keselowski’s Ford Mustang.
Out of habit, they managed to change one wheel in 9.5 seconds, after which Okon cheerfully remarked: “Maybe we better race? ..”
They also had such an opportunity – Esteban and Pierre drove around the track in a new generation NASCAR car, and it seems that they both enjoyed this experience, although stock cars are a heavy, clumsy technique that requires a special approach, since it has minimal downforce.
The video will tell how it was, which the press office of Castrol, Alpine’s technology partner, promises to show soon – this will be another curious installment of the Castrol Edge Challenge series.
