The AlphaTauri team prepares for the upcoming Miami Grand Prix, but this process has been overshadowed by sad news from the north of Italy, where the Emilia-Romagna region has been hit by heavy rains causing flooding and landslides.
The natural disaster resulted in human casualties. At least two people have died, according to Reuters: in the town of Castel Bolognese, an elderly man drowned – a stream of water knocked him down while he was riding a bicycle, and in another village, also near Imola, rescuers found the body of a man among the ruins of a house.
“The city of Faenza, where the AlphaTauri base is located, and other parts of the Emilia-Romagna region were hit by heavy rainfall,” the team said in a statement. “They caused severe flooding that resulted in the death of two people, and also caused a lot of property damage. The disaster has also affected some of our employees, and at this difficult time our thoughts are with them, but also with all those affected by the disaster.”
