Nick de Vries: I don’t want to make excuses for myself

After the race in Baku, Nick de Vries took the blame for the wrecked car. At the FIA press conference in Miami, the AlphaTauri rider said he had put the disappointment of the last stage behind him.

Nick de Vries: “The fact that the next race will be held next weekend helps me a lot. There were also positive moments in Baku – we showed a good pace and the team made good progress. We started the weekend at a very competitive level, but what happened in the race… It happens, so you have to move on.

We flew to Miami quite early and already on Tuesday we started preparing for the podium. There’s a very exciting Grand Prix coming up and I’m happy to be here. Let’s see what we can do this weekend.”

Unlike teammate Yuki Tsunoda, Nick de Vries still has to score points this season. Asked if this was due to the fact that three of the last four races took place on unfamiliar circuits in the city, Nick said: “Everyone is on an equal footing and I don’t want to make excuses for myself.

We know that on urban circuits there is virtually no room for error and that stability is essential to get results.”
