Azerbaijan Grand Prix: Curious Statistics

Qualification

Charles Leclerc won qualifying in Baku to take his fourth consecutive pole, sixth this season and 15th in his career. Leclerc became the first two-pole winner on a street circuit in the capital of Azerbaijan. In the pole classification, Leclerc leads Max Verstappen with the Dutchman on 14 poles.

Sergio Perez qualified second after beating his teammate for the third time this year. The Mexican started from the front row for the second time this year and for the third time in his career.

Max Verstappen qualified third – he started from the same position in Baku last year.

Carlos Sainz’s fourth place is his best result in the history of performing in Baku.

For the sixth time in the past eight Grands Prix this season, Ferrari and Red Bull drivers have taken the front two rows of the grid.

George Russell qualified fifth, ahead of teammate Lewis Hamilton for the third consecutive time.

Pierre Gasly qualified sixth this year with the best result for AlphaTauri.

By winning the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, Max Verstappen took his fifth win of the season and the 25th of his career, equaling Jim Clark and Niki Lauda in this indicator.

Lando Norris finished ninth – this is the 50th Grand Prix in which he earned points.

For the first time since the race at the Monza home circuit in 2020, both Ferrari cars retired from the race.
