Tomorrow the three-day Formula 2 tests will start in Barcelona, which will allow the teams of the youth series to prepare for the fifth stage of the season, which will be held in Imola from June 19-21.
The tests start on Wednesday and last until Friday. For the first two days, track work will begin at 9 a.m. local time and last until 5 p.m. with a two-hour break between two sessions of three hours each. On Friday, the day’s program ends at 4:00 PM and the lunch break is just one hour.
During the tests, the teams have Pirelli Soft and Hard tires at their disposal.
Testing on the Catalan ring is also useful as it allows riders to study the updated configuration, since in 2023 the last chicane, which was historically controversial, was excluded from it. Now the third sector ends with the 13th and 14th turns. Internship in Barcelona is scheduled for the first weekend of June.
All twenty-two drivers from eleven Formula 2 teams will participate in the tests.
Theo Purscher, an ART rider, leads the individual classification after the first four motos of the season, but has a very small lead over Frederik Vesti (Prema) and Ayumu Iwasa (DAMS). There is no clear leader in the championship, so it is likely that the balance of power will change with each stage.
