Lewis Hamilton’s contract with Mercedes expires at the end of 2023. The rider and the team have repeatedly spoken about their intention to continue the collaboration, but have not yet signed a new agreement. 2009 World Champion Jenson Button believes Lewis has no realistic options other than Mercedes if he intends to continue his Formula 1 career.
Jenson Button “Lewis is showing loyalty to the team, but I don’t think he has options that he would want. I don’t think there is an option for Lewis to move to Red Bull – I doubt the team sees him as a suitable partner for Max Versstappen.
I think Lewis is not going to Ferrari. Aston Martin? He will certainly not end up in Aston Martin, as both places in the team are definitely occupied for the foreseeable future.
I believe Lewis’s future is with Mercedes. He is loyal to the team and I like to see him go through difficult times with the team. I think they can do it together. In Formula 1, ups and downs alternate – if you’ve been at the top for a long time, there’s bound to be a downturn. But if the team can return to the first positions, then Lewis will not end his career.
