Yesterday the awards ceremony took place in Seoul for the participants of the AIPS Sport Media Awards, which were held for the fifth time this year. AIPS is the International Sports Press Association and the festivals it organizes each year award prizes to sports journalists whose work is judged in more than thirty categories.
In the nomination Athlete Video Profile, victory in 2023 went to the documentary MAXimum Verstappen: The Flying Dutchman, presented by ServusTV. The prize was awarded to the filmmakers, the Austrian documentary makers Nikolaus Machacek and Nikolaus Streche.
By the way, this is not the first award their work received – before that, the film was recognized as the best at the sports press competition in Austria.
“A first-class documentary dedicated to one of the best athletes in the world has been made by two filmmakers who have worked successfully with ServusTV for many years. Our whole team is proud of this award,” says Christian Nehiba, head of the TV channel’s sports editorial team.
In total, more than 1800 creations from 138 countries were presented at the AIPS festival and the film about the two-time world champion became the only Austrian work on the shortlist.
