Rumors: Eric Bouillet is a candidate to replace Safnauer

During the race weekend in Miami, the conflict between Alpine CEO Laurent Rossi and team principal Otmar Safnauer came out – Rossi was dissatisfied with the team’s results in the first races of the season and openly blamed Safnauer for this.

Well-informed British journalist Joe Savard writes that Alpine has already started considering candidates for the position of team leader, and the list of applicants also includes Eric Bouillet, who already managed the team from Enstone when the team was called Renault/Lotus.

“The problem with the team is that it is not performing at the level that the Alpine bosses want to see,” writes Joe Savard. “Rossi has made it clear that he needs results or heads will roll. But heads must not roll, because he basically said: ‘Fix everything!’ So those responsible still have time.

There are already rumors of possible replacements, but Alpine has the problem that at some point some of the best candidates have been fired from the team, and they are unlikely to want to return. This means that the pool of potential candidates is very small.

I heard the name whispered – Eric Bouillet, who had managed the team in the past, but left after the owners couldn’t find funding. Eric moved to McLaren, where he was caught in the crossfire of warring factions.

In addition, there are rumors of possible reshuffles at McLaren if results do not improve, as shareholders are dissatisfied with the current state of affairs. Rumors are rumors, but we’ll see what happens in reality.”
