Elbon: We are half a second back from 2022

Alex Albon has only finished in the top ten this year in Bahrain, but the Williams driver is pleased with the team’s form at the start of the season. According to him, the team almost always manages to squeeze the maximum out of the car.

Alex Albon: “We still believe our car is ninth fastest. However, this is my second season with the team, I know what I need from the car, I know its limitations and honestly I feel like I’m a great driver.

The team is consistently in a good position if they manage to implement the right strategy in qualifying. You may have noticed that we try to be one of the first to leave for attempts, to avoid all those problems that usually come with qualifiers. As a result, he appears to pass the attempt neatly and to take a good place at the start.

Attempts to qualify on new tires hide the weaknesses of the machine. The new tires provide better traction, the front suspension is more efficient in slower corners and the rear suspension is slightly better in fast corners.

At the distance of the race, we roll back a bit, but still quite close to the rivals. I would say the car has a reserve of two tenths, which we can win back or lose, and depending on that, reach the final or finish the fight in the first session.

Compared to last year, the team is doing well. We are moving steadily into the second part, having regained half a second of the deficit. I feel we got the most out of most of the races this year.”
