Alpine offered Mattia Binotto

We have already talked about the conflict between Alpine CEO Laurent Rossi and team principal Otmar Szafnauer – Rossi is dissatisfied with the team’s results in the first races of the season and blamed Szafnauer for the failures.

After the race weekend in Miami, it appeared that Alpine had already started considering candidates for the position of team leader, and one of the contenders is Eric Bouillet. According to the Italian press, Alpine was considering another candidate: Mattia Binotto.

Reportedly, the former head of Ferrari was offered a contract to manage the Alpine team, but turned it down. But even if Binotto accepted the offer, he would not be able to start work for the foreseeable future. The fact is that Ferrari paid Mattia an extra fee at the beginning of 2023 so that he would not work in another Formula 1 team, FIA or Liberty Media until the end of the year.
