AlphaTauri is preparing novelties for Imola

After five races of the season, AlphaTauri has only earned two points, which does not match the ambitions of the team from Faenza. The team’s chief engineer Guillaume Desoteux spoke about the new bottom that will appear on the cars of Yuki Tsunoda and Nick de Vries at Imola. AlphaTauri expects to be able to add home.

“We will be bringing a brand new underbody to Imola,” said Desoteux during a race weekend in Miami. “We look forward to evaluating it in the car. This should be a big, important step forward. We hope that the novelty will live up to the team’s expectations.

Of course there is a correlation between the data obtained on the simulator and on the track, but so far all the novelties we have brought have worked in line with expectations. The new front wing that we fitted to the car in Miami worked exactly as it did in the wind tunnel at the track. We are therefore looking forward to coming to Imola.

The battle in the middle group is very busy – more than 10 cars fit in 1% of the lap time. We have chances and if our step forward is big enough, we will gain back a few places.

However, we must not forget that the rest are also preparing new items. I think the upgrade race in the middle group will be very interesting throughout the season.”
