Former F1 driver Johnny Herbert thinks Lewis Hamilton should switch to Ferrari…
Johnny Herbert: “Lewis is still in great shape and aiming to win. He is uncomfortable in today’s car, although this happens to everyone. Russell is doing great but Hamilton has what it takes to win races.
The eighth title requires the right terms. When he moved from McLaren to Mercedes, a lot of people, myself included, thought he was crazy. But in the end everything worked out. He was interested in Niki Lauda and Ross Brown’s offer – and he agreed.
Ferrari should make the same offer. Lewis has not yet extended his contract with Mercedes, leaving him to look for options to continue his career elsewhere.
Ferrari is one of the possibilities. Why not? It is clear that Lewis will not move to Red Bull or Aston Martin. Ferrari clearly haven’t been able to achieve what they were aiming for, but they have potential.
Maybe Hamilton will wait and see where Mercedes will take the car, if the team will make progress, and if not then they should focus their efforts elsewhere.”
