On Thursday, the Italian press reported that Daniel Ricciardo traveled to Faenza at the AlphaTauri base after the Miami Grand Prix to have his seat adjusted in preparation for a possible replacement for Nic de Vries’ team. However, according to ESPN, there have been no talks between Daniel and the team and there are no plans to replace de Vries.
ESPN sources claim that Ricciardo came to Faenza to try on the seat, but this did not happen after the Miami race, but even before the Florida round. Due to performances in Japanese Super Formula, AlphaTauri’s reserve driver Liam Lawson was unable to fly to the Miami Grand Prix, and if one of the team’s lead drivers was unable to start, he would have been replaced by Ricciardo.
Moreover, if AlphaTauri nevertheless decides to refuse the services of Nick de Vries, then it will be Lawson, and not Riccardo, who will be the main candidate to replace the Dutch rider.
As for Daniel, after the race in Miami, he really went to Italy, but not to Faenza, but to the wedding of his friend, Australian snowboarder Scotty James. James is set to marry Chloe Stroll, the sister of Aston Martin driver Lance Stroll, this weekend.
