Qualifying in Imola will be held according to the changed rules

The qualifying Grand Prix of Emilia-Romagna will be held on Saturday according to the adjusted rules. The changes have to do with the number of sets of tires available to each rider and what compounds they can use on the track.

Prior to the Imola stage, the riders had 13 sets of slicks at their disposal, but now they have 11 sets at their disposal: 3 hard, 4 medium and 4 soft. The new schedule saves 46 sets of slicks per rider per season. With a grid of 20 drivers, Pirelli will now transport a total of 920 fewer sets of tires per season. This, in turn, will bring Italian tire manufacturers one step closer to the goal of carbon neutrality.

Due to the change in the number of tires available, the rules for the use of tires in qualifying also change. Now riders must use only hard tires in the first part, only medium in the second part and only soft tires in the final.

The rules for using rain and intermediate tires, as well as the number of kits available for each rider, will not change.
