Norris: Finding track access in Imola is sometimes difficult

McLaren is preparing for the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, which will begin a series of three European stages in a row, separated by weekly intervals. The team hopes to score points at Imola, which they failed to do in Miami.

Lando Norris: “I’m looking forward to the race at Imola, where a series of three stages in a row will start. There is a fast and technical track and it can be difficult to find an approach to it. At the same time, it has a number of characteristic features that make it interesting and fun to fly.

The results in Miami were worse than we had hoped, but in Imola we have performed well in the past and have been on the podium two years in a row. Although we are not battling for top three places this season, this Italian track has fond memories.

I feel I’ve prepared well for the weekend ahead: I’ve been training on the simulator, spent some time at the base of the team in Woking and now I want to get up and running quickly on track and attack. ”

Oscar Pistri: “I’m excited to get ready for my first weekend at Imoy. It’s a great fast track with great setup so I’m looking forward to getting started.

We analyzed in detail our work in Miami and tried to draw as many lessons as possible in preparation for the upcoming weekend. I visited the base, talked to the engineers, worked on the simulator to get to work on the track in good shape.

Andrew Stella, team leader: “After a good race in Baku in Miami, we had a harder time, we didn’t earn any points there. The team has regained its strength and now we are ready to compete at Imola – a series of three races, separated by weekly intervals, starts from the podium at this circuit.

Work in the McLaren base is in full swing, the team is preparing a new range of new products that will be presented in the next races, which will make our car more competitive. In the next stages we have to fight for points again and to achieve this is our main task.

From the riders’ point of view, Imola is an interesting track, with high speeds and corners in different configurations. We’ve shown good results there in the past, so now we’re going to try to use that positive experience by solving different tasks, some of which require immediate attention, others a matter of further afield.”
