McLaren team principal Andrea Stella urged the FIA to think about simplifying the regulations. In his opinion, this not only simplifies the task of the championship participants, but also makes it easier for the FIA itself to monitor compliance with the rules.
“We are dealing with more than just technical regulations and aerodynamics,” says Andrea Stella. – If you look at the Formula 1 team, you see that this is a very complex organization, especially in this day and age. I would say that the regulatory framework under which the team operates has become much more complex than in the past.
Think of financial regulations. It is very difficult, and difficult for all parties – not just for the teams, but also for the FIA. Just imagine how long it takes the FIA to check all declarations and bookings. This work takes months, and this is already a proven fact.
Of course we at McLaren are in favor of simplifying the regulations and we will promote this idea to the FIA. We are definitely choosing this direction, because at the moment it is quite difficult to manage a Formula 1 team. It’s harder for teams than in the past, but it’s also harder for the FIA to keep everything under control.”
