The Alfa Romeo team is preparing for the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix with a special mood, as for them this is the first of two home races, on a track with such a rich history.
Valttery Bottas: “I am looking forward to returning to Imola: the team is working on the car with full dedication and we are preparing technical innovations for next weekend. I hope they will allow us to improve and get back to the top ten.
Moreover, this is one of our two home races and if we can do it right it will be great for us, for Alfa Romeo and for the Italian fans. I have good memories of Imola: it was there last year that we achieved our best result, which played an important role at the end of the season.
It’s always interesting to perform there because it’s an old school track with such a rich history. We showed some progress already in Miami: our pace in one fast lap was clearly better than in previous races. But we still have work to do, we have to keep moving forward and try to add better results in qualifying and races.
Guanyu Zhou: “It was nice to see the team showing signs of progress in Miami, although we need to keep modernizing the car. At the base in Hinwil, technical innovations are being worked on non-stop and that requires enormous efforts from all employees.
I am very happy that we are back on track and can check what has been achieved. It is always a great honor to take part in such a historic circuit as Imola, especially as the passionate support of the Italian fans can be felt there.
In addition, this is the home race for Alfa Romeo, which makes the upcoming Grand Prix even more special. As always, we have a difficult task ahead of us, but we have a confident attitude, we want to make positive changes and fight for the points on Sunday.”
