Emerson Fittipaldi praises Sergio Perez

Emerson Fittipaldi praised Sergio Pérez’s performance: the two-time world champion believes the Mexican Red Bull Racing driver is perfectly capable of competing with his partner, current world champion Max Verstappen.

“I am very happy that Sergio Perez is performing so well and showing excellent results,” said the Brazilian Formula 1 veteran. “He is already established in the team, adapted to the car and found a common language with the engineers.

Perez is going really fast. But I was surprised that he suddenly lost speed during the race compared to Max Verstappen. Fans are very interested to see how Sergio will fight with a partner, but he has been delayed in several grands prix this year, but it will likely be the same for upcoming races.

It’s all very curious, but I think it’s typical of Formula 1, it’s also part of the show and I’m just happy that Sergio is a very confident driver, showing high speeds and having success. Now he will just add to it, and that’s great.”

Fittipaldi also said of Ferrari’s double retirement: “They definitely have problems. I don’t know if they are related to the engines themselves, to the turbine or to the electrical systems, but the smoke looks like something has broken in the engine. During the race, four Ferrari engines failed (on the Scuderia, Alfa Romeo and Haas cars).

At the same time, there is very little time to solve the problem, because the stage in Montreal is already in a few days. Ferrari again had a very fast car and Charles Leclerc drove very well. I hope they can tackle the root causes of the problems, it will benefit the whole Formula 1 because this year the team is very competitive.

Of course Ferrari has all the possibilities for this, all the necessary technologies, but we don’t know when this will happen. For the Montreal race this is not an easy thing to do, but I hope they will have time anyway. The Canadian Grand Prix is always very interesting because there is always a lot of overtaking.
