Hamilton’s former coach spoke highly of him

Former Lewis Hamilton coach Antti Vierula agrees with Angela Kallen, who has also been Mercedes’ personal trainer since 2016, but their partnership ended this spring.

“Lewis, you are the greatest racer of all time! Working with you has been both a great honor and a pleasure for me – I am proud of you and all your achievements. Thank you for your support and for believing in me!” – that’s how Cullen summarized this period of her career.

Vierula was responsible for Hamilton’s physical preparation in the days when the future seven-time world champion still drove for McLaren, and remained with the team when Lewis moved to Mercedes.

“I enjoyed working with him,” Vierula recalls. – It was fun because he is a very enthusiastic person next to the job. He succeeded perfectly in squeezing everything out of both the car and the engineers. He always pushes everyone, he manages to get people to give the best of themselves.

He is persistent in getting the engineers to answer any questions and always gives his opinion when he thinks it is right. He has a passion for excellence.”

Now Hamilton does not have a personal trainer, as these duties are divided between several specialists, and one of them, whom Lewis calls “Steve-O”, worked with him at McLaren in 2007 and was then one of the technicians in charge of its gearbox cars. After that he changed several roles and now he is part of the driver’s inner circle.

And Vierula currently serves as a personal trainer for Valtteri Bottas at Alfa Romeo.
