On Tuesday evening, Formula 1 staff were asked to leave the Imola circuit paddock as the weather remains inclement, torrential downpours continue and the possibility of flooding cannot be ruled out.
Formula 1 management and race organizers are monitoring the change in weather conditions and have responded to the warning about the “red level” of danger associated with unbridled elements. While the region’s authorities expressed hope for an improvement in the situation this morning, the same was announced the day before at the official presentation of the upcoming Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, and so far no adjustments have been made to the weekend schedule.
The forecast promises that the weather will be worst in the first half of the week, but after that the situation should improve somewhat, although the precipitation will not stop. It is true that the water level in the Santerno River, which flows in the immediate vicinity of the autodrome, is a particular concern.
In the next 24 hours, up to 100 mm of precipitation is expected to fall on the territory of the Emilia-Romagna region, and in the Apennines, where the source of the Santerno is located, the intensity may be even greater.
