The stage in Imola was to be held with the participation of three series – Formula 1, Formula 2 and Formula 3. The teams brought equipment and started preparing for the weekend when it was cancelled. The program is the same in Monaco next week, and in a busy schedule of three stages in a row, logistics are key.
With the circuit closed and many roads blocked, it promises heavy rain until Saturday evening, so getting to Monaco could be difficult. Formula 2 COO Marco Codello commented on the situation…
Marco Codello: “Formula 2 and Formula 3 need two days to prepare, Formula 1 takes a little longer. I hope the situation improves and we can leave Imola on Thursday, but there is no exact plan yet. Maybe we’ll stay here and go straight to Monaco, where we’re supposed to be on Monday night.
I imagine that Bologna airport will not only be flooded with water, but will also be filled with people wanting to fly home. But there aren’t many flights, so all we can do now is keep calm. The state of emergency applies to everyone.”
